Chep, the supply chain solutions company, received an Environmental Sustainability Award for its leadership in global supply chain sustainability at the sixth Automotive Global Awards ceremony held in London in November.
Sharing the award was Chep’s customer Endurance Technologies, an automotive component manufacturer based in India. Both companies were honoured for their joint achievement in reducing CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and preventing deforestation.
DK Rai, Director, Chep Automotive, India, says, “Chep’s efforts alone have resulted in the saving of some 360 trees per year in materials and emissions. The vast size of automotive and logistics operations in India provides us with a good example of how small changes can make a big difference when implemented on a larger scale,”
Chep has worked with over 3 000 customers, including the top vehicle manufacturers and Tier1 brands globally since 1975. With its environmentally friendly, cost-saving, multi-user platform pooling service, Chep reduces the total supply chain cost per part, while improving the efficiency and carbon footprint for its customers. The company also optimises transportation routes to minimize empty truck travel.
The award marks the second year in a row that Chep has been honored with an Automotive Global Supplier Award. In 2016, Chep Automotive Europe and Tier 1 supplier Eberspächer won the Product Innovation Award at the awards programme. It recognized a new, efficient reusable packaging solution designed to optimise Eberspächer’s intercontinental supply chain.
